Music Teacher Robert Navarro

Robert Navarro is an accomplished New York City performer with more than 25 years of experience as a professional pianist, teacher, arranger and producer. Mr. Navarro holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) from The City College of New York and a Master of Arts (MA) from New York University. He has also studied at Mannes College The New School for Music (Extension Division for Jazz Studies), and Manhattan School of Music (Classical Studies).

In 2004 Robert received a Grammy nomination for a Conjunto Clasico 25 Aniversary production. On December 2007 he received a Grammy as an arranger with Bobby Cruz Romanticos de Ayer, Hoy y Siempre Song Envidia. In April 2011 he received an award from the Treasure Coast International Film Festival for the musical arrangement of the song City within a Dream for Best Original Song in a Motion Picture.

Robert studied privately with jazz great, Jackie Byrd (jazz piano and big band arranging), as well as Harold Danko, John Lewis, Valerie Caper, Ed Summerlin (jazz arranging) and Ron Carter (jazz improvisation). His classical piano training took place under the leadership of renowned teacher Ms. Bagger where Mr. Navarro focused on the challenging repertoire of piano composer Liszt.

Mr. Navarro mastered his engineering education under the watchful and experienced tutelage of two of the most respected engineers in the music business; Mr. John Fausty and Mr. Kurt Upper.

Robert has performed with legendary artists Johnny Pacheco, Conjunto Clasico, Jose Mangual Jr., Pete “Conde” Rodriguez, Charanga America, Angel Canales, Azuquita, Machito and Orquesta, Mon Rivera, and Willie Colon. He has toured with Celia Cruz (South America) Ray Barreto (European tour 1989), Grupo Fascinacion, Frankie Ruiz (South America tour), Eddie Santiago (European tour 2004), Santiago Ceron, and many local bands.
